I was looking for something in my closet the other day and spotted a Glory bait I'd gotten in a grab-bag of baits (a bait, for you non MLP-customisers, being a pony in very poor condition, suitable only for play by non-discriminating children or for turning into pony customs). I had already toyed a few times with the idea of doing a Loki custom (a movie version) but having put the idea aside because I'd been too busy. Looking at that Glory, I suddenly remembered an old baby pony I'd used for something else but had since replaced, leaving that pony up for grabs again, and the idea of Thor and Kid!Loki popped into my head ....

I considered cutting Thor's unicorn horn off, but then I'd have had to make a permanent helmet to cover the hole, as my efforts to use some sort of clay in similar situations have not turned out so great. Besides, unicorn legends paint them both as pure/noble and violent, rather like Thor, so it suits him. I do wish I'd found something better for Thor's helmet -- after some failed attempts with clay, I used a cap from an Organics shampoo bottle. The pipe-cleaners worked nicely for the wings, though! His costume is made from a mix of acrylic paints, applied directly to his body, and fabric, the latter secured with hot-glue and straight pins.Thor's hair is embroidery thread knotted & held in place with pins. The bulk of his cape is a stiff red nylon, but the bit around his neck is from a red bag. His hammer is made from Crayola Model Magic, a thin dowel rod, and fake tooled leather.

It was too windy & sunny to do the photos outside, as I normally do. Then I got an idea to build Asgard in my room, using a Cinderella's Castle throw, some black fabric, and fabric that looks like the Rainbow Bridge from the Thor movie! This is the most fun I've ever had both customising and then photographing the finished customs!
