This was originally a baby sea pony -- the turtle-shaped ring you see was her floatation device, so you could make her float in the water. It struck me one day that the piers of Atlantis kind of formed their own "flotation device for the city, and that planted this crazy idea in my head. I'm rather pleased with it, really! (Although, even sealed like the ring is, she can't float in water. alas -- too heavy and apparently not sealed well enough.)
You can't tell so well in the photo, but the paint is silver. I emphasised the lines of the fins to go with the "stain-glassed windows" I put on her belly, which I consider to be a key decorative element in the city on the show (Stargate Atlantis). Her eyes and the insides of her ears are meant to mimmic the stain-glass as well. She has a blow-hole, so I stuck an antennae in it, like the main tower of the city has. The piers are made of a cardboard/very, very thick cardstock. I found a wallpaper that had an overhead silhouette and used it as a template (I'd link you, but I can't find it now . The "buildings" are made of Crayola's Model Magic Fusion (hence them not being shaped al that wall. *Cough* But it's light and air-dries ...) I couldn't make the buildings in the back very tall either, or else I wouldn't have been able to put the pony in! XD
That's the Earth symbol and my signature mark on the bottom (all of the ponies in this series of mine have them). Sealed with Mod Podge.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
