I know what you're thinking. "What, again??" Well, third time's the charm. I'd gotten some blue metallic paint, and thought I ought to spiff Rodney up a bit, since John was so shiny. Unfortunately I ended up *ruining* Rodney, so I took the pony I'd earmarked for Kavanaugh and used him to make a new Rodney. Pretty pleased with him, really. :) Can't tel so easily from the photos, but besides him being somewhat metallic, he also has rainbow-y glitter. :D His emblems and the shield device also *drumroll* glow in the dark! Instead of colouring his mane like last time, I glued some furry material to him, to mimic Teh Hewlett's fuzzy hair in season 4. ^^ And I painted his laptop silver and put a little printout of the Atlantis expedition emblem on it, like in the show.

John refused to be outdone. He made me add a Ferris Wheel to his emblem (well, I decided to put something unique behind all the military emblems). And I decided he needed the black wristband (I got that notion before I'd seen your own Sheppard pony, ;devberrymouse:, I swear! XD)

You can see version 1 of them here: [link] and version 2 here: [link] and the rest of my Stargate custom ponies here: [link]

Rodney's my favorite. How hard is it to make these?
What kind of paint do you use?
They are awesome.

It gets easier with practice. :) It used to take me all day to make a pony, but now I can generally get a pony done in two or three hours. I use acrylic paint and seal it with Mod Podge. In Rodney's case (he's my fave, too), I used a metallic blue paint mixed with a lighter blue acrylic, and also added a coat of opalescent glitter paint (*that* was tricky). Even with the Mod Podge, though, you have to be careful -- the paint can still get chipped/scraped off.

Ah, I love mod podge! We use it in the crafts for teens all the time :D I'm going to have to try that.
