I originally made these ponies last year [link] but when I took them (and others) to Dragon*Con, they got badly scuffed. I've recently made a new Stargate MLP, and I figured I should fix up all the others as well, and take better photos. (*edited Sept 7th, 2008* And I ended up redoing them *again*, after this -- see version 3.0 here: [link] )
McKay, I had to paint this time, whereas I'd left his original skin tone the first time -- it's a shame, 'cause he was a lovely colour that I wasn't able to duplicate, but I just couldn't get him clean. And I think this blue suits him better anyway. I decided to give him a new symbol, drawing and colouring a (simplified) Z(ed)PM and pasting the paper on, adding a faint yellow glow around it in acrylic. I had painted him with sparkly blue paint at one point, but that just didn't look good, so I repainted him. I also touched his eyes up.
I also repainted Sheppard a slightly lighter grey, and then when I painted Rodney with the blue glitter-paint, I painted Sheppard with silver glitter. I liked how he turned out, so I kept it. I painted over his original Air Force symbol, then drew a new one on paper and pasted it on, so it was cleaner and positioned better. I also painted over his dog tags and *made* a set out of two sequins and black thread coated with the silver paint. And I made him a pair of sunglasses out of Crayola Model Magic.
I gave both the boys a new Atlantis logo, a paper printout this time instead of drawn on. Both are coated in Modge Podge -- I even had to coat Rodney's hair because the marker kept coming off ( I repainted him *several* times)...
From the original versions' descriptions (edited):
I almost didn't make these [...] -- I didn't have any Big Brother ponies left, and the G3s just didn't seem right for them to me. Then it struck me one day that Baby Cuddles made me think of McKay for some reason. The idea of Baby Northstar as Sheppard immediately followed. (Well, he is a flyboy, so of course he has to have wings!) They're like mischievous children together anyway!
For both ponies, I obviously wanted the Pegasus patch on one side, like I had the SG-1 patch on both Daniel and Vala. I gave them both the Stargate "A" as a cutie mark too [...].
For McKay, I coloured his mane & tail as brown as I could, but I didn't have a brown marker anymore (just terra cotta), so it's more red than I would like. [...] I gave him my fave McKay shirt, the v-neck blue one with the black stripes under the arms. I coloured his eyes with a sparkly blue pen. Around his neck is the "personal shield device" from the ep "Hide & Seek" -- it's made of glue gun wax, cut, then coloured with green marker. I stole the laptop from my Willow figure [... (It used to have the Atlantis logo on it, but it wore off. Next time, I'll print out a tiny one and paste it on.)]
For Sheppard, I decided that, since the man is always wearing black shirts and dark grey slacks and jackets, I'd make his body dark grey and give him a black shirt. And I coloured his hair with a black marker. [...]

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant.
